Support parents of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities with a UQ PhD Scholarship

Take advantage of the UQ  PhD scholarship and launch your PhD career making a meaningful difference to families with neurodivergent children with a unique online parent support program grounded in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

EPACT is a randomised trial of parenting acceptance and commitment therapy for parents with neurodevlopmentental disabilities. 

Develop your research career while supporting families with neurodivergent children and contributing to the evidence base for a unique intervention

  • Contribute to a 4-year randomised controlled trial of PACT Online (online parenting support grounded in acceptance and commitment therapy)for families of children diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
  • Develop your specific PhD thesis around project outcomes including emotional availability, parent wellbeing and adjustment, child adjustment and adaptive behaviour, or heart rate variability, taking into account your interests and experience. Develop core research skills in a supportive interdisciplinary research team.
  • Opportunities exist for applicants with clinical backgrounds to be involved in clinical delivery under supervision if desired.

This is an Earmarked scholarship project that aligns with a recently awarded Australian Government grant

The scholarship includes:
  • Living stipend of $32,192 per annum tax free (2023 rate), indexed anually
  • Your tuition fees covered
  • single overseas student health cover (OSHC)

Pre-requisites:

  • Eligible for enrolment in a PhD (Master of Philosophy or Bachelor's degree from an approved university with at least honour class IIA or other relevant research experience).
  • Educational background relevant to the project (e.g., parenting, neurodevelopmental disabilities, heart rate variability etc.)
