Our current opportunities

Queensland Cerebral Palsy Research and Rehabilitation Centre is a leading international translational research centre, assisting children with cerebral palsy and their families. A number of PhD scholarships are available for domestic allied health graduates, including: occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, psychology, nutrition and dietetics graduates.

These PhD opportunities are embedded within the newly established NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence (CRE), the Australasian Cerebral Palsy Health Network, offering access to a collaborative network of researchers, clinicians and lived-experience partners working to improve outcomes for children and young people with cerebral palsy.

PhD scholarship opportunities are currently available to domestic applicants only. Unfortunately, we are not offering PhD scholarship opportunities to international applicants at this time.

AVERT-CP Very Early Rehabilitation for young children with cerebral palsy

Help shape the future of very early intervention for infants at high risk of cerebral palsy. This PhD will focus on co-designing and evaluating a novel rehabilitation program for infants in the first months of life, following discharge from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Working alongside families, clinicians and researchers, you will contribute to the development and pilot testing of an evidence-informed intervention aimed at improving motor, cognitive, feeding and communication outcomes, generating knowledge that could transform early care for infants with cerebral palsy.

Support the mental health and wellbeing of adolescents with cerebral palsy

Contribute to research exploring the mental health, wellbeing and life experiences of adolescents and young adults with cerebral palsy. Working with a unique Australian longitudinal cohort, you will collaborate with young people with cerebral palsy, families, and clinicians to identify priorities for mental health and wellbeing, participation, quality of life, social inclusion, and independence. Using participatory and mixed-methods research approaches, you will contribute to the co-design of resources and generate evidence to inform future interventions and clinical trials, while developing advanced research skills within a supportive interdisciplinary team.
