Researcher biography

A/Prof Sakzewski holds a dual position as Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Queensland Cerebral Palsy and Rehabilitation Research Centre (QCPRRC), The University of Queensland; and Advanced Occupational Therapist, Research at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. She leads multi-disciplinary teams (4 postdocs, 2 research assistants, >30 clinician-researchers, 3 research higher degree students) implementing multi-site trials of neurorehabilitation for children with CP. She has 35 years clinical and research experience working with children with disabilities and their families. She has a track record leading large-scale multi-site trials investigating novel interventions to improve motor, participation and social outcomes for children with CP.

A/Prof Sakzewski has been awarded over $24M CI funding in the last 10 years ($6.9M as CIA) and has has built strong long-term collaborations with an extensive network of researchers and clinicians working in CP across Australia through her clinical trials including experts from McGill University Canada (Prof Majnemer, Prof Shikako), Michigan Uni USA (Prof Peterson), Universite Catholique de Louvain Belgium (Prof Bleyenheuft), Karolinska Institute Sweden (Prof Eliasson), She has substantial clinical networks across Australia (Queensland Children’s Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital and Monash Health, Victoria, Cerebral Palsy Alliance (NSW) and Perth Children’s Hospital and Healthy Strides Foundation (WA).

A/Prof Sakzewski has 97 publications, 72 indexed in Scopus in the last 10 years, with a total of 1,525 citations, average citation/paper of 21.2, cited in more than 70 countries with an overall FWCI of 1.63 and all of career h-index of 29.
